When We Believe God Accepts Us As Right With Himself

The good news tells how God accepts everyone who has faith, but only those who have faith. It is just as the Scriptures say, “The people God accepts because of their faith will live. - Romans 1:17 (CEV)

For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed, both springing from faith and leading to faith [disclosed in a way that awakens more faith]. As it is written and forever remains written, “The just and upright shall live by faith.” - Romans 1:17 AMP

What does this really mean in simple terms?

The Easy English Version 2018 puts it like this: "The good news explains how God accepts people as right with himself. He does this when they believe in Christ. It is only because of their faith. Nothing else. This is what was written in the Bible long ago: ‘Everyone that God accepts as right will live, because they trust him.’" - Romans 1:17

Here again both the mercy and grace of God shows up clearly and distinctly. God shows us His mercy by holding back on punishment due to our sins and sinful nature. Then His grace kicks in and offers us salvation and right-standing (righteousness) with Him that is totally undeserved.

This is indeed the display of God's undeserved, indescribable love for mankind.
