The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right, and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord turns his face against those who do evil. 1 Peter 3:12 (NLT)

Yes, we live in the New Testament (covenant) phase of grace, which followed a period of the law (a highly detailed legal system of spiritual laws). Mankind has always had free choice - but with that, there are always consequences.

Evil deeds will always be followed by consequences matching the deeds. This is in God's timing and under His sovereign rule.

Injustice and evil will always be punished in one way or another - through consequences!

When we see the light and turn to God, the eternal consequences are dealt with through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. Our life is thrust into change as the Holy Spirit begins a new work in us.

However, there are life consequences we must face here on earth.

The nazi soldier who killed hundreds of Jews faced a tribunal and prison sentence, whether he came to Christ or not.

The drunken driver who killed an innocent child as he crashed into a sidewalk wall, will face legal consequences and the haunting reality of guilt and memory for life - even though he comes to Christ.

The man and woman who have an affair...

The addict who sells drugs to teens at schools to pay for his next fix...

God is always tough with consequences, maybe not today, but tomorrow...

BUT GOD... will always show us mercy and grace, and offer us salvation...

Today is the day of salvation, "if you hear His voice don't harden your heart" - Heb 3:15
