Light From God's Word

Daily Soul Food Nuggets: Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. - Psalm 119:105 (ESV)

The person who introduced me to reading the Bible was Ken, a new Sunday school teacher during high school in 1972-73. He offered to buy each of us a Bible for R5.00.  

Strangely, as a rebel class, we all went along and I got my first ever Bible with a set of daily reading notes called "Daily Bread".

It felt even more strange - given that this rebel was very proud to have this big black New English Bible with a gold emblem.

But of course I did initially hide it from my "rough-rebel" elder brothers.

I was not religious nor was my family. We were sent off to Sunday school for who knows what reason. Mom and Dad only went to church at Christmas and maybe Easter.

This strange act of love by Ken, and the fact that I found the Word of God full of interesting things - set me on course for many other events that led me to meet and fall in love with Jesus Christ!

Yes, the word is now a daily lamp to my feet and a search light to my path. I've been transformed by God's word in the hands of loving people with love-designed reading resources. So today is a day I can reach up, reach in and reach out and give back... to you!
