Christ Set You Free

When I look back to my radical early days as a disciple of Jesus, I remember how free I felt. Free from the load I had been carrying alone, for many years. A heavy burden for my parents alcoholism and troubled marriage.

I felt free from my own sin because I believed the message of the Liberator Jesus Christ who invitied me to abundant life.

I left the church where I was saved as it was very traditional and had, non-biblical teachings around baptism, as an example. The Pentecostal church I went to was full of rich biblical teaching. People there were so committed to God, including the youth I was part of.

Slowly, not understanding all these spiritual "laws" to live by, I began to slip into a form of legalism.

I "should" do this. To grow I "must" do this. The new leadership couple that took over a few years later, were even more legalistic. When I wanted to leave medical technology to go to university to become a social worker, but they frowned on this. "Christians don't study psychology and such things...".

I was shocked at the freedom that was gone! I left the church and have been greatly blessed to this day breaking away from human imposed laws.

So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don’t get tied up again in slavery to the law - Galatians 5:1 (NLT)
